MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 173 During this Course brief explanation is given of the prin- cipal phenomena developed in order to connect the facts ob- served with the principles on which they rest This Course is adapted to the requirements of the University of London of the Society of Apothecaries and of the Medical Boards of the Army and Navy as well as to all who with objects professional or otherwise wish to obtain an acquaint- ance with the process of Manipulation Materials for working are supplied free of charge but all damage done to apparatus must be repaired at the expense of the Student who may have occasioned the same Students who desire further to prosecute this practical study of Chemistry are recommended in the summer following that in which they have attended tbe Course of Demonstration to avail themselves of the opportunity of becoming familiar with the examination of morbid products and the processes for analysing the animal secretions by entering for month 01 longer to the Class of Analytical Chemistry The text-book in this Class is Bowman's Introduction to Practical Chemistry XIII Analytical and Experimental Chemistry In addition to the Chemical Course and to the Summer Class of Practical Chemistry accommodation is provided for those Students who may wish to acquire more minute acquaintance with certain subdivisions of the science than can be conveyed in regular course of lectures The Class formedfor this purpose is conducted in the Labo- ratory under the superintendence of the Profe3sors andDemon- strator By this means each Student will be enabled to familiarize himself with the methods of analysis and the operations of research Attention will be particularly given to- Analytical Chemistry including the preparation of tbe principal tests and reagents in state of purity-the exami-
