150 applied sciences The Officers are elected terminally Matriculated Students only being eligible At the commencement of the Academical Year an Evening Meeting or Soiree is held to which the Members and their friends are admitted One of the fundamental rules of the Society is that each Member is to consider himself pledged to furnish paper in turn by which it is hoped that all Members will be made to take an active interest in the Society and maintain it in state of efficiency worthy of the College The Expenses of the Society are defrayed by Subscription of 2s 6d per Term from each Member Gentlemen wishing to join are requested to communicate with the Honorary Secretary Section III regulations respecting students The days fixed for the admission of new Students in the Academical Year 1867-8 are Wednesday October Wednes- day January 22 and Tuesday April 21 An examination of all new Students takes place on their joining the College in Euclid Books II Arithmetic and Elementary Algebra including Simple Equations with the view of ascertaining that they are sufficiently advanced to enable them to take advantage of the College classes The Principal and Professors have the power of sending back for time any who may be considered disqualified for admission This examination takes place on the Wednesday of the opening week The regular work of the Term will begin on Thursday October Thursday January 23 and Tuesday April 21 on tvhich days all old Students must be present in Chapel at 10 unless special leave of absence is obtained beforehand from the Principal The Students received into this Department are- Matriculated Students or those admitted to the regular and full prescribed course oi study Each Candidate for Matriculation must produce testi-
