338 THE SCHOOL any day succeeding the second Friday in the months of January April July and October Englts icfjolarsfjipe These Scholarships are open to Pupils of the School See page 98 Such Pupils as may wish to compete for these Scholarships are admitted on the recommendation of the Head Master to the Special Lectures in History and English Literature at the reduced fee of 21 2s per Term See page 95 5rcl 00l cfjalar5f i1 Two Scholarships each year of Ā£30 each tenable for two years one for pro ficiency in Classics and the other for proficiency in Mathematics These Scholarships are open to all Pupils who having been four complete Terms in the School were not eighteen years of age on the 1st of January preceding the election These two Scholarships are tenable together Candidates for the Classical Scholarship will be examined in their regular School work and in passages from any of the Greek and Latin Classics with special attention to Grammar and Philology These Scholarships can be held so long as Pupil remains in the School or so long as he pursues his studies at King's College or at either of the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge Scholarship obtained in the School is tenable with one gained in the College The next Examination for the Classical Scholarship will begin on Monday July 15 1867 The Examination for the Mathematical Scholarship will take place at the beginning of July 1867
