MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 231 Sect XII The Degree of Doctor of Medicine may be conferred on any Can- didate who has obtained the Degree of Bachelor of Medicine and is of the age of twenty-four years and has been engaged subsequently to his having received the Degree of Bachelor of Medicine for at least two years in attendance on an Hospital or in the Military or Naval Medical Services or in Medical and Surgical Practice The Preliminary Examinations in Arts take place on the last Wednesday of October and the first Tuesday of April The Professional Examinations take place in April June July and October the Examinations in Chemistry Botany and Natural History in April and October those in Anatomy Physiology and Surgery in April and July those in the other subjects in June and July Every Candidate for the College Licence except in cases specially exempted is required to produce satisfactory evidence to the following effect Of having attained the age of twenty-one years II Of moral character III Of having passed preliminary Examination in the subjects of General Education IV Of having been registered as Medical Student by one of the Bodies named in Schedule of the Medical Act Of having been engaged in professional studies during four years of which the first two years and one other year shall have been pas3ed at recognised Medical School or Schools and of having attended to Medical Practice at recognised Hospital or Hospitals during two years of that period and the Surgical Practice during twelve months and six months to the Clinical Study of Diseases of Women The last of the four years of Professional study mu8t be passed at Medical School Hospital Infirmary or Dispensary recognised by the College VI Of having studied the following subjects III royal college of physicians Bye-Laws 04 to Licentiates Physiology Chemistry Anatomy with Dissections Six Months Practical Chemistry Materia Medica Practical Pharmacy Botany Three Months Three Months Three Months Three Months Principles and Practice of Medicine
