110 GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE Persian Dr Forbes's Grammar The Gulistan of Sa'dl An- vari Suhaili The Bostan of Sa'dl English Law and Jurisprudence Blackstone's Commentaries Institutes of Justinian by Sandars Traites de Legislation de Bentham par Et Dumont Maine's Ancient Law Lord Mackenzie's Studies of Roman Law Political Economy Text book Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations Section XIII LEGAL SECTION Under the Superintendence and Direction of Professor John Cutler Barrister at Law The want of General School of Law in the Metropolis has been long admitted The Lectures delivered at the four Inns of Court are open only to those who are studying for the Bar while Articled Clerks alone avail themselves of the instruction offered by the Incorporated Law Society To remedy as far as possible this deficiency it has been deter- mined to establish at King's College Legal Section the object of which will be to meet the wants of those who are desirous of studying Law either 1st with view of offering themselves for the Examinations for the Degrees in Laws of the University of London or 2d to qualify themselves to practise as Barristers or Solicitors or 3d to pass the Law Examinations prescribed for certain Civil Service and Diplo- matic Appointments or 4th to obtain general knowledge of those portions of Law which are intimately interwoven with the pursuits of every-day life The method of instruction adopted both by the Professor and his assistants will be combination of Lecturing with Catechetical Examination The Students attending the various classes will be examined by the Professor by written papers at the close of every Course and Certificates will be given to those who pass satisfactory examinations
