92 general literature and science Section II EEGULATIONS RESPECTING STUDENTS The days for the admission of new Students in the Aca- demical Year 1865-66 are Tuesday October January 23 and April 10 An examination of all new Students takes place in the first week of their joining the College viz In History on Tuesday at In Mathematics on Wednesday at 10 In Classics on Thursday and Friday at 10 The results of this examination are in each case sent to the Student's parent or guardian Scholarship of 30 tenable for two years see page 110 will be given to the Student who passes the best examination in Classics and in Mathematics respectively at the beginning of the October Term The examination in History will be in English History during the reigns of the Tudors The Mathematical subjects are for the entrance exa- mination Euclid Books II Arithmetic and Elementary Algebra including simple Equations for the Scholarship examination Euclid Books II III IV VI and XI Plane Trigonometry and Algebra generally The examination in Classics will be in passages to be translated from Standard Greek and Latin authors and in Composition in the Greek and Latin languages The regular work of the Term will begin on Thursday October January 25 and April 12 on which days all old Students are required to be present at Chapel at 10 unless special leave of absence is obtained from the Principal The Students received into this Department are- Matriculated Students or those admitted to the regular and full prescribed course of study
