48 ANNUAL report great Corporation avowedly founded for the furtherance of knowledge in subordination to religious principles The annual distribution of prizes to the Students of this department will take place on the evening of Thursday May 18tb The Earl Granville has consented to preside on this occasion and the Council earnestly invite the attendance of every Member of the Court who may wish for an opportunity of seeing for himself some part of the work in which the College is engaged few words must be added in reference to the renovated College Chapel On June 26 1864 it was formally opened for Divine Service by the Lord Bishop of London and subse- quently Special Services were provided for the several de- partments of the College successively There appears to be but one opinion as to the beauty and appropriateness of the Chapel incomplete as it is The Principal reports marked increase of reverence and devotion amongst the Students during Divine Service The only cause for regret is that there is still deficit of at least £1 800 on account of the work thus far completed The following list giving the particulars of the windows of the Chapel which it is proposed to fill with stained glass and the names of those who have kindly signified their in- tention of defraying the cost will prove to the Court how warm an interest has been taken in this work by many old and attached friends Novtf aisle ί Timothy Rev Major St James and St John William Bowman Esq St Matthew and St Luke Sambrooke Esq St Mark and St Peter Edward Wigram Esq apse 2I Our Lord sitting amongst The Earl of Powis the Doctors Begidning from the east end Beginning from the north side Marble columns given by Messrs Jackson and Shaw
