218 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT The viva voce examination shall be in Anatomy and Morbid Anatomy the written examination in Materia Medica Toxico- logy in the Practice of Medicine and in Midwifery The Physician's Assistant shall visit the medical wards daily between the hours of ten and twelve accompany the Physician during his visit and prescribe under his direc- tion shall see such patients in the evening as the Physician may think necessary and be responsible for the proper treat- ment of the medical cases In the event of the death of any patient in the Medical Wards he shall send immediate notice to the Physician under whose care the patient was admitted and to the Pathological Registrar Assistant House Physician -The examination for this office is the same as that required for the office of Physician's Assistant This Officer will not reside in the Hospital but he is per- mitted to board at the Hospital on payment of the sum of 20 before entering upon the duties of his office He shall supply the place of the Physician's Assistant during his necessary absence and assist him when required except at such times as he is in attendance on the Physicians to the Out-Patients He shall make chemical and microscopical examinations and be responsible for all instruments and apparatus entrusted to his care He shall attend in the Out- Patient department at one o'clock daily and remain there until all the Out-Patients have been prescribed for shall occupy separate desk and see such patients as are allotted to him by the Physician in attendance Candidates for this office must have served the office of Clinical Clerk to the Out-Patients and are not eligible for examination at period later than five years from the time of their Matriculation in the Medical Department Such Assistant House Physicians as shall have performed their duties to the satisfaction of the Committee of Manage- ment and the Council during six months shall if otherwise
