IS annual uepoht The Evening Class Department has been conducted with even more than usual success The numbers in attendance exceed those which have been recorded in any previous year and as usual the diligence and exemplary conduct of the Students have been beyond all praise In the all-important subject of Divinity in particular the soundness of their knowledge is such as to give good promise of the future usefulness of many of them as members of the Church of England either as Theological Students in preparation for Holy Orders or as Lay-helpers in the work for the Church- whether after the Bishop of London's plan or otherwise The Council are under great obligation to the Rev Ε II Plumptre the Chaplain for suitable course of lectures on the Thirty-nine Articles which many of his hearers have worked up with Bishop Harold Browne's invaluable Com- mentary The Council have to deplore the death of one of their most esteemed and useful members From its first foundation King's College has been largely and continually indebted to Mr Joseph Henry Green for faithful and most valuable services During six years he delivered in the Medical Department of the College series of admirable lectures as Professor of Surgery Soon after his resignation of that Chair Mr Green was elected member of the Council to the business of which he thenceforth devoted the powers of very philosophic yet strictly practical mind with signal advantage to the interests and welfare of the College The Council desire to record their sincere admiration of their late colleague's upright and honourable character their great regret and concern for the loss in their meetings of his regular presence his patient attention his calm and ripe judgment and their deep and affectionate respect for his memory It is impossible for the Council to pass over in silence the great work which individual members of their body backed by the Principal and other officers of the College have so
