50 ANNUAL REPORT is fair prospect of seeing within few months the College in possession of place of worship worthy of its high clia- racter and consistent with its avowed design of making religion the centre of all its efforts for the furtherance of sound education The following distinguished names have been added by the Council to the list of Honorary Fellows The Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol Archdeacon Browne Canon of Wells Dr George Budd Dr Arthur Farre Henry William Bristow Esq member of the Geological Survey of Great Britain Dr Bernays The Finances of the past year exhibit balance of 609 Is 3d to the credit of the working expenses and this notwithstanding the fact that first instalment of 200 has been laid up towards the thorough renovation of the large Entrance Hall and the whole interior of the building-a work which has never been attempted since the opening of the College but which is now much needed Three new Lecture Rooms were also fitted up in the course of the summer of 1862 and the entire expense charged on that year The Council have great hope that the financial position of the College is steadily improving Such is the retrospect of the past year Except in one particular it has not been an eventful one The severance of official connexion between the College and so many of its oldest and most valued officers is subject for deep regret but it is not without its compensation- Uno avulso non de6cit alter Aureus The particles of the body may change but the corporate action remains unimpaired The persons and familiar faces of men and the circumstances of the time will vary or pass
