MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 257 IV EOYAL COLLEGE 01 SURGEONS OF ENGLAND Regulations of the Council respecting the Education and Examination of Candidates for the Diploma of Member of this College Preliminary General Education and Examination Candidates who shall commence their Professional Education on or after the 1st of January 1861 will be required to produce oue or other of the following Certificates Of Graduation in Arts at recognised University Of an Examination for Matriculation or such other Examination as shall in either case from time to time be sanctioned by the Council of this College at University in the United Kingdom at recognised University in the Colonies or at recognised foreign University Of the Oxford Cambridge or Durham Middle Class Examinations either Junior or Senior Of the Preliminary Examination for the Fellowship of this College Of the Previous Examination of the University of Cambridge Candidates who shall not be able to produce one or other of the fore- going Certificates will be required to pass an Examination in English Classics and Mathematics conducted by the Board of Examiners of the Royal College of Preceptors The Examinations will be held in London until otherwise directed by the Council The Fee for the Examination will he the same as that paid at the Oxford Junior Middle Class Examination -An Apprenticeship entered into on or after this date will not be con- sidered as exempting Candidate from the necessity of passing the Preliminary Examination for the Membership Professional Education Ī  Candidates will be required to produce the following Certificates viz Of being twenty-one years of age Of having been engaged during four years in the acquirement of professional knowledge Of having studied Practical Pharmacy during three months Of having attended Lecture on Anatomy delivered not less frequently than four times in each week during two Winter Sessions Of having performed Dissections during not less than two Winter Sessions Of having attended Lectures on Physiology delivered not less fre- quently than twice in each week during two Winter Sessions From and after January 1863 Certificates of having passed any Junior Middle Class Examination will not be received Latin not being made com- pulsory
