MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 221 faction of the Medical Officer or Officers under whom he may have served Application for such certificates must be made to the Sub-Dean on the expiration of the period of service No Student shall receive certificate who has not attended regularly during the entire six months of his appointment If from any cause any gentleman shall be obliged to resign his appointment he shall immediately give notice in writing both to the Sub-Dean of the Medical Department and to the Secretary of the Hospital If any gentleman be prevented temporarily from attending to his duties he must provide Substitute approved by the Physician or Surgeon under whom he is serving Out-Patient Clerics -There shall be sixteen Out-Patient Clerks three for each Assistant Physician they shall have diligently attended six months' Medical Practice The exami- nation shall be in the Anatomy of the viscera in Materia Medica and in the Practice of Medicine In the case of the Clerks to the Assistant Physicians for the diseases of women and children the Practice of Medicine required shall have relation chiefly to these diseases The viva voce exami- nation shall be chiefly in Anatomy The Clerks shall attend regularly at the respective hours and on the days of the Physician under whom they are appointed They shall register and prescribe in turn for the Out-Patients under the direction of their respective Physicians In-Patient Clinical Clerks -There shall be six In-Patient Clinical Clerks two for each Physician Candidates must have served the office of Out-Patients Clerk for the period of six months and have attended six months' in-patient Medical Practice The viva voce examination shall be chiefly in Anatomy and Morbid Anatomy the written examination in Materia Medica and in the Practice of Medicine Candidates shall also if required take case or cases chosen by the Physicians from patients in the house at the time of examination In-Patient Clinical Clerks shall attend regularly at the
