APPLIED SCIENCES 157 or Guardian of the Student upon form to be obtained in the Secretary's office The general age for admission into this Department is for the Engineering Section 16 for the Military Section 15 No one under this age is received except by the special per- mission of the Principal The full course of study which each Student is recommended to pursue carries him through three Academical years The year consists of Three Terms viz Michaelmas Term from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas Lent Term from the middle of January to the week before Easter Easter Term from Easter to the beginning of July Pupils who have passed two years in King5s College School have attained the age of sixteen and have passed at least one Term in the highest class of either Division are allowed on their entrance to this Department to take rank with Students of the Fourth Term Personal application must be made at the time of entrance to the Secretary in order to secure this advantage At the beginning of every term each Student must take his card of admission to the Dean to be countersigned and re- gistered There are examinations at the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms when the Students are classed according to pro- ficiency The examination in June is followed by public distribution of Prizes detailed report is sent at the end of each term to the parents or guardians of each Student both as to his progress and as to his general attention and good conduct during the term In case of Student being absent from the College without permission from the Principal or without notice being sent to the Secretary letter is immediately addressed to the parent or guardian notifying the fact The General Library is open daily to all Students for the purposes of study See Regulations page 371 limited number of Students are admitted to reside within the College see page 372 and some of the Gentlemen con-
