44 annual report year have been- The opening of the new Building The entire removal of the old AVorkhouse which had been extemporized into Hospital The opening of the Lying-in-Ward of which the prospect was held out in last year's Report The Council feel confident that in point of space and venti- lation as well as in attention to the wants of the sick poor in the system of nursing carried on under the Lady Super- intendent and Sisters of St John's House and in all the details of religious ministration so ably conducted by the Chaplain in the Chapel and in the Wards this Hospital is second to no other For these results the Council are fully aware how much they are indebted to the Committee of Management and the able and judicious guidance of Moore Esq the Vice-Chairman of the past year It is with much regret that the Council announce the retirement of Mr Lee from the office of Assistant Surgeon to the Hospital after faithful service of thirteen years Mr Henry Smith and Mr Francis Mason both former Students have been appointed to succeed him Mr Hulke also has resigned the office of Assistant Surgeon and has been sue- ceeded by another former Student Mr Spencer Watson Senior Medical Scholar of this College in 1857 Both the retiring officers have been elected Honorary Fellows of King's College London ×™ Dr Major and the Vice-AIaster have sent in most satis- factory reports of both the Divisions of King's College School testifying to the quiet and orderly conduct of the boys and their general desire for improvement TEe numerous distinctions achieved during the past year by Pupils of the School have again supplied evidence of the excellence of the system and of the zeal and ability with which it is administered The Council cannot publish the following list of successes without previously offering their heartfelt acknowledgments to Dr Major the Head Master to the Vice-Master Mr Fearnley and to all the Members of the Staff
