THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT 61 The choice of books to be brought up for the Greek and Latin examination is to be made from the following list Homer -Books II III ן Cicero -" De Finibus Ohe Greek Tragedt Cisar -" De Bello Gallico Three Herodotus -Book II or any two Books other Books Salldst Thucydides -One Book Livy -Two Books Xenophon -" Cyropaedia Books Tacitus De Moribus German- II III orum and Agricola 11 Anabasis Books Virgil -Three Books of the iEneid II III or the Georgics Cicero -" De Officiis Horace -The Odes the Satires or -" De Natura Deorum the Epistles After passing this examination Candidates for admission must obtain the recommendation of Bishop The days fixed for the entrance examination in the next Academical Year are Wednesday October 1861 Wednesday January 22 and Wednesday April 30 1862 Section IV PERIOD of STUDY Persons already in Deacons' Orders desirous of preparing themselves as Candidates for Priests' Orders as well as Graduates of Oxford Cambridge and Durham are admitted to attend the Theological Course for such length of time as they may desire and may at the close of the period of attendance offer themselves as Candidates for Certificates Vide Sect VII II In the case of all others the Course must be continued for at least six entire terms two years before the Student can offer himself for the Final Examination Section GENERAL RULES All Students are required to attend the daily Morning Service in the College Chapel II No Student may absent himself from any lecture without the express permission of the Principal being first obtained except in cases of illness and then written notice must be sent to the Principal
