12 annual REPORT Student of this College has been elected to the vacant Chair of Manufacturing Art and Machinery Few changes have taken place in the Medical Depart- ment during the past year Owing to regulations issued by the College of Surgeons it has been deemed necessary to create new Professorship-that of Dental Surgery and Mr Samuel Cartwright the distinguished Dentist of our Hospital has been elected to the Chair The office of Assistant Physician to the Hospital vacated by the resignation of Dr Murchison has been filled by the appointment of Dr Edward Liveing former Student of the College Generally speaking the diligence of the Students and their attention to discipline has been admirable Of our old Students the following have obtained honours at the University of London at the second Examination Scholarship and Gold Medal in JohnEaston ""'e Anatomy Gold Medal Mid- wifery and Honours in Surgery Gold Medal in Physiology and John Harley Comparative Anatomy Gold Medal in Medicine Honours in Surgery and Midwifery ίScholarship and Gold Medal in Surgery Honours in Medicine and Midwifery Thomas Hiron Bartleet ω in Sul HonourB in Medicine Henry Forbes Winslow Honours in Medicine and Mid- wifery William Cayley Honours in Midwifery Amongst the present Students the following gentlemen have obtained distinctions at the first Examination Honours in Anatomy and Physio- Henrt Stanley Gale logy in Chemistry in Materia Medica and in Botany
