3S Tlie following Report on the general state of the College was pre- sented to the General Court of Cover nor9 and Proprietors held on Friday April 26th 1861 the Lord Bishop of Winchester in the Chair The Council of King's College London have the honour to present to the Court of Proprietors their Thirtieth Annual Report The number of Students in the various Departments during the Lent Term either equals or exceeds that which was an- nounced in last year's Report The Department of the Applied Sciences and that of the Evening Classes indicate an excep- tional and unprecedented degree of prosperity But all the Departments without exception are doing the work allotted to them with undiminished efficiency and success In the enumeration which follows care has been taken as usual to reckon only once the name of each Student or Pupil whatever may be the number of the separate classes which he attends Matriculated Students Theological Department and Class of Candidates Department of General Literature and Science 81 Department of Applied Sciences' including Military Section 80 Medical Department 156 93 Evening Class Department 490 Carried over 490
