246 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT Examination Every person intending to offer himself for Examination must give notice in writing to the Clerk of the Society on or before the Monday previous to the day of Examination and must at the same time deposit all the required testi- monials at the office of the Beadle where attendance is given every day except Sunday from ten until four o'clock The Examination of the Candidate for Certificate of Qualification to prac tise as an Apothecary is divided into two parts First Examination which may be passed after the Second Winter Session provided the Candidate has completed his 19th year will embrace the following subjects Latin including the Pharmacopceia and Physicians' Prescriptions Anatomy Physiology General and Practical Chemistry Botany Materia Medica Second Examination after the Third Winter Session the five years pupilage being completed Practice of Medicine and Pathology Midwifery including the diseases of women and children Forensic Medicine and Toxicology The Examination of the Candidate for Certificate of Qualification to act as Assistant to an Apothecary in compounding and dispensing medicines will be as follows In translating Physicians' Prescriptions and the Pharmacopceia Londinensis In Pharmacy and Materia Medica By the 22d section of the Act of Parliament no rejected candidate for certificate to practise as an Apothecary can be re-examined until the expiration of six months from his former examination and no rejected candidate as an Assistant until the expiration of three months The following sums are paid for certificates -For London and within ten miles thereof ten guineas For all other parts of England and Wales six guineas Persons having paid the latter sum become entitled to practise in London and within ten miles thereof by paying four guineas in addition For an Assistant's certificate two guineas VI qualifications and examination ογ candidates for commissions in the aemt medical service Every Candidate presenting himself for admission to the competitive examination required for the Army Medical Service must be unmarried He must produce birth certificate from the District Registrar or certificate of baptism in which the date of birth is stated or if neither Of these can be obtained an affidavit from one of the parents or from some other near relative who can attest the date of birth will be accepted The certificate or affidavit must
