210 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT The examination for In-Patient Dressers is pass examina- tion Candidates who pass the examination and who have received certificates of having held an Out-Patient Dresser- ship will be elected according to seniority in the Hospital Register No Member of any College of Surgeons can be candidate The examination shall consist of viva voce and written examination-the former principally Anatomical the latter Surgical-having particular reference to the nature of in- patient surgery Candidates shall also if required take case or cases chosen by the surgeons from patients in the house at the time of examination In-Patient Dressers shall dress and register the cases ad- rnitted into the Hospital under the direction of the Surgeon or House Surgeon If any In-Patient Dresser is by any cause prevented from attending temporarily to his duties he shall provide sub- stitute approved by the Surgeon under whom he is serving House Surgeon -He shall be Member of the College of Surgeons and shall have served to the satisfaction of the surgeons the offices of Out and In-Patient Dresser for the full period of six months each He shall previously to his appointment produce certificate of moral character to the satisfaction of the Committee of Management He shall before entering into office pay the sum of 30 for board and lodging during his six months' residence in the Hospital The examination shall be both viva voce and written-the former in Anatomy and the application of Surgical Apparatus the latter in Surgery and Materia Medica including Toxi- cology The most proficient candidate shall be elected The House Surgeon shall visit the surgical wards daily between ten and twelve accompany the surgeon during his visit and prescribe under his direction shall see such patients in the evening as he may think necessary and shall be responsible for the proper management and dressing of al the suigical cases The instruments and surgical apparatus λιιλΙΙ be in his charge and he shall make Monthly Report
