126 APPLIED SCIENCES Ε Perspective Projection Its elementary principles as applied to the solution of Problems relating to the line and plane Representation of simple solids bounded by planes Representation of solids with curved surfaces Determination of shadows reflections from polished surfaces &c No Student can understand the practice of Perspective beyond the simplest cases without previous knowledge of Orthographic Projection Construction of Maps on the principles of Orthographic and Perspective Projection Development &c The principles of the representation of Ground by con- tours or lines of level and the mode of representing Cuttings Embankments Earth-works Reservoirs &c The Student is assisted in following the Lectures on Natural Philosophy and Mechanics By drawing Lenses and the determination of the passage of rays of light through them Determination of the reflected rays from mirrors concave or convex By the graphical solution of Statical and Dynamical Problems The order and arrangement of this course is modified according to the previous knowledge of the Student It pre- supposes only knowledge of Euclid and the use of the rule and compass those not possessing even this must commence with more elementary constructions It is intended to be auxiliary to and concurrent with the College courses on Machinery and Manufacturing Art and on the Arts of Construction The examinations of Candidates for Scholarships and for Certificates of Approval and Honour comprise the sub- ject of Descriptive Geometry without competent knowledge of which no Student will be recommended by the Professor
