b-2 GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE Prizes are also given annually for Latin Essay Latin Verse English Prose and English Verse See pages 99-101 III Mathematics Lectures daily Saturday excepted from 10J to The subjects of these Lectures are Euclid Algebra Plane and Spherical Trigonometry Conic Sections Algebraic Geo- metry the Differential and Integral Calculus Mechanics Hydrostatics Newton's Principia Optics and Astronomy The Students are divided into four Divisions and in these Divisions they are arranged in order of merit at each ex- amination Mathematical Subjects for 1860-61 Firs Division -Elementary Mechanics and Hydrostatics Spherical Trigonometry Geometry of three Dimensions Dif- ferential and Integral Calculus and Newton Sect II III Second Division -Conic Sections-Algebraic Geometry of two Dimensions Elementary parts of the Theory of Equations- the Differential and Integral Calculus functions of one variable Third Division -Euclid II III IV VI XI Algebra- Plane Trigonometry Junior or Fourth Division -Euclid and Algebra Students of the Second and Third Years not qualified to read the subject of the First and Second Divisions will attend those of the Third Division Scholarships Prizes etc At the examination which takes place at the close of the Easter Term the same Scholarships Prizes and Certificates are given as in the corresponding Divisions of Classical Literature
