5 θ theological department Section VI examinations-certificates Persons in Deacons' Orders and Graduates of Oxford Cambridge and Durham may on leaving the College have Certificate stating the time of their attendance and the examinations they have passed II At the close of each term an examination takes place in each of the several branches of instruction when the Prin- cipal and Professors require all Students to exhibit to them the notes taken at their lectures Absence from the terminal examination in any one of the subjects without the special permission of the Principal involves the loss of the term III At the beginning of the Michaelmas and Lent Terms all Students are examined in some assigned portion of the works of Hooker Butler or Pearson The subjects for examination in October 1859 will be Hooker's Ecclesiastical Polity Book and Pearson on the Creed Art II the part relating to the words His only Son our Lord In January 1860 the subject for examination will be Pearson on the Creed Art III IV All Students have to pass probationary viva voce examination in the following subjects The Greek Testament as far as the Second Epistle to the Thessalonians The Church Catechism with Scripture Proofs The Old Testament History Juelli Apologia Ecclesiae Anglicanae This Examination takes place on the first Saturday in each Term Students may present themselves for this Examination at the beginning of their Fourth Term No Student is allowed to go up for his final examina- tion in the same Term as that in which he shall pass his probationary examination At the close of the course of study an examina- tion takes place before Board of Examiners consisting of the Principal the Professors and the Lecturers of the Department
