MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 207 Candidates for Degrees must attend in person before the commencement of the Examinations to register their names and pay the required fees to the Registrar All required Certificates must be transmitted to the Registrar at least fourteen days before the Examinations begin Matriculation The Matriculation Examination takes place yearly commencing on the first Monday in July Fee £2 No Candidates are admitted unless they have produced Certificates of having completed their sixteenth year The subjects for Examination are Mathema- tics Natural Philosophy Chemistry Classics the English Language the Outlines of History and Geography and the French or the German language No one will be approved by the Examiners unless he shows competent know- ledge of such portions of these subjects as are set forth in the University Calendar Candidates presenting Certificate of having passed this examination will he exempted from passing both the Classical Examination for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the preliminary Classical Examina- tion at the Apothecaries' Hall London Bachelor of Medicine Candidates for this Degree are required- To have been engaged during four years in their professional studies at one or more of the Institutions or Schools recognised in this University To have spent one year at least of the four in one or more of the re- cognised Institutions or Schools in the United Kingdom To pass two Examinations The first Examination takes place on the first Monday in August each year Fee £5 Candidates must produce Certificates of having completed their nineteenth year taken Degree in Arts at any recognised University or passed the Matriculation Examination subsequently studied at recognised Medical School for two years Dissected during nine months attended course of Practical Chemistry attended to Practical Pharmacy attended course of Lectures on four of the subjects in the annexed List -Descriptive and Surgical Anatomy General Anatomy and Physiology Comparative Anatomy Patho- logical Anatomy Chemistry Botany Materia Medica and Pharmacy General Pathology General Therapeutics Forensic Medicine Hygiene Midwifery and Diseases of Women and Children Surgery Medicine The subjects for Examination are Anatomy Physiology Chemistry Botany Materia Medica and Pharmacy Candidates will also be required to translate passages from the London Pharmacopoeia Those who are placed in the First Class in this Examination may go in for honours the following week and will be examined in any or all of these subjects viz Anatomy and Physiology Chemistry Materia Medica and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Structural and Physiological Botany An exhibition of 301 per annum for two years and two gold medals of the value of each are given in each of the first three subjects and one gold medal of the same value in the last named subject
