medical department 151 which the Professors could scarcely be expected to give their time and attention The Tutor's course of instruction is especially calculated to promote and encourage regular and diligent attendance upon Lectures During the Summer Session the same method is pursued with the subjects of Botany and Materia Medica XVI The Dean and the Sub-Dean of the Medical Department The Dean is appointed annually by the Professors from amongst themselves and is their representative upon all occasions II The Sub-Dean is elected from time to time by the Council resides within College and is in attendance from after the 20th'of September and during the Medical Sessions for two hours every day for the purpose of receiving and advising Students signing Cards of Admission Certificates and Schedules attending to the discipline of the Department and generally conducting under the Principal and the Dean all the business connected therewith Letters on the subject of the Department may be addressed to the Sub-Dean Cards of admission to Lectures can be obtained from the Secretary's office only by the Sub-Dean's written order and when obtained must be signed by him previously to being taken to the Professors All Certificates must be signed by the Sub-Dean previously to being signed by the Professors XVII King's College Hospital King's College Hospital is situated in the densely-inhabited district which lies between the two great thoroughfares of Holborn and the Strand It is in the parish of St Clement Danes but receives Patients in large numbers from the sur-
