74 GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE Matriculated Students are required to attend regularly the College Chapel and the Divinity Lectures by the Principal and Chaplain they must wear the Academical cap and gown within the precincts of the College and they are expected to attend Lectures with perfect regularity Leave of absence can be obtained from the Principal alone and in cases of sickness or other unavoidable cause of non-attendance at the College written notice is to be sent by the parent guardian or medical attendant to the Secretary Exemption from attendance on any particular subject of Lecture can be obtained only from the Principal An appli- cation must in every case be addressed to him by the Parent or Guardian of the Student upon form to be obtained in the Secretary's Office Except by the special permission of the Principal no one is admitted Student of this Department under sixteen years of age The regular Course of Instruction in this Department carries the Student through three Academical Years Each Year con- sists of Three Terms viz Michaelmas Term from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas Lent Term from the middle of January to the week before Easter Easter Term from Easter to the end of June There is an Examination every year for all Students at the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms At these Examina- tions the Students are classed according to their proficiency The Examination in June is followed by public Distribution of Prizes detailed Report is sent at the end of each term to the parents or guardians of each Student both as to his progress and as to his general attention and good conduct during the Term In case of Student being absent from the College without permission from the Principal or without notice being sent to the Secretary letter is immediately addressed to the parent or guardian notifying the fact The General Library is open daily to all Students for the purposes of study See Regulations page 276
