theological department 07 Section III rules of admission Previously to Matriculation each Student must subscribe the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion as well as declaration that he will conform to all the rales and regulations of the College II Associates elected from the Department of General Literature and Science of King's College London and Gradu- ates in Arts of Oxford Cambridge or Durham are admitted on producing testimonials from their respective colleges III All persons not being Associates of King's College London or Graduates in Arts of Oxford Cambridge or Dur- ham must conform to the following rules They must be 21 years of age Seven days before the entrance examination they must send in an application for admission stating their age and other circumstances as set forth in printed form to be obtained from the Secretary They must produce Certificate of good moral and religious character from the Clergyman of their parish or of the parish in which they have last resided The names of one or more friends to whom the Candidate is well known must also be given as referees They must pass an examination in the following subjects The Four Gospels in Greek The Historical Books of the Old Testament The Church Catechism with Scripture Proofs One Greek and one Latin Book to be selected by the Candidate from the list given below Latin and Greek Grammar One Standard Book in English Literature selected by the Principal that for the year 1858-59 being Bacon's Essays small pamphlet Initia Hebraica of four pages on the Hebrew Alphabet by the Rev McCaul This may be purchased at the Secretary's Office King's College London price 6d or by post 7d
