254 THE SCHOOL Sir desire you be fulfilled English Essay -Life Character and Times of Louis IX The English Verse must not be less than one hundred lines in length nor more than one hundred and fifty The Exercises must allbe delivered to the Secretary of King's College before o'clock on Tuesday May 31 1859 after which hour no exercise will be received The Author is required to conceal his name and to distin- guish his Composition by some motto sending at the same time his name sealed up under cover bearing the same motto Section XIII SCHOLARSHIPS Good conduct regular attendance at Chapel and com- petent knowledge of such subjects in Divinity as shall be previously fixed upon are indispensable for the admission of any Student or Pupil to be candidate for Scholarship in this College Every Scholarship is held subject to forfeiture for mis- conduct In case there should be no candidate of sufficient merit in any year the Scholarship of that year will not be awarded Any Scholar desirous of obtaining Certificate of having gained Scholarship may obtain the same from the Secretary on payment of the fee prescribed by the Council The payments for all Scholarships are made quarterly and the amount due may be applied for in the Secretary's office any day succeeding the second Friday in the months of January April July and October inglts 5cf 0Iarsf ipe These Scholarships are open to Pupils of the School See page 78 Such Pupils as may wish to compete for these Scholarships
