216 military department JfflilttarB Department Section This Department is designed- For those Gentlemen intending to compete in the Examinations for admission into the Royal Military College at Sandhurst and for admission into the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich or to pass the Examination for Commissions in the Service of her Majesty and of the Hon East India Company The course of instruction includes- Divinity Professional Mathematics English language French languages Classics History ancient and modern Geography Drawing Fortification and Plan Drawing For Officers wishing to prepare themselves for the Examination for Staff Appointments or to compete for admission into the r0yal military college at Sandhurst The course of instruction includes- Professional Mathematics Military History and Geography French Fortification and Artillery Military Drawing and Surveying Military Law The different Classes are conducted by the following Pro- fessors and Lecturers Religious Instruction according to the principles of the United Church of England and Ireland by the Rev Ε Plumptre Chaplain late Fellow of Brasenose College Oxford II Fortification Plan Drawing Surveying Military Law by Major Griffiths Royal Artillery Professor
