178 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT Δ Student sending in his name as candidate for any office thereby signifies his willingness and intention if elected to discharge in person the duties of that office for the entire period of six months Candidates must give in their names to the Sub-Dean of the Medical Department two days before the examination They are required ta write fair and legible hand Special certificates will be given to each Student who shall have filled any office in King's College Hospital to the satis- faction of the Medical Officers under whom he may have served Application for the blank forms for such certificates must be made to the Secretary of the College on the expi- ration of the period of service No Student shall receive certificate who has not attended regularly during the entire six months of his appointment If from any cause any gentleman shall be compelled to resign his appointment he shall immediately give notice in writing both to the Sub-Dean of the Medical Department and to the Secretary of the Hospital Out-Patient Clerks -There shall be ten Out-Patient Clerks two for each physician to out-patients and fourfor the physician accoucheur these shall be matriculated students and shall have diligently attended six months' medical practice The examination shall be pass examination and shall be in the anatomy of the viscera materia medica and the practice of medicine In the case of the physician accoucheur's clerks the practice of medicine required shall have relation chiefly to the diseases of women and children The examination in anatomy to be viva voce-in the other subjects written The Clerks shall serve for six months and shall attend regularly at the respective hours and on the days of the physician under whom they are appointed They shall register the out- patients under the direction of their respective physicians and take care that the dressing &c ordered by them is performed Dr Guy's Clerks will be required to assist him in preparing the general and medical statistics of the Hospital
