62 theological department The choice of books to be brought up for the Greek and Latin examination is to be made from the following list Homer -Books II III ן Cicero De Finibus One Greek Tragedy Csssar -" De Hello Gallico Three Herodotus -Book II or any two Books other Books Sallust Thdcydides -One Book Livy -Two Books Xenophon -" Cyropaedia Books Tacitus De Moribus German- II III orum and Agricola "Anabasis Books Vtrgil -Three Books of the iEneid II III or the Georgics Cicero -" De Officiis Horace -The Odes the Satires or --" De Natura Deorum the Epistles After passing this examination Candidates for admission must obtain the recommendation of Bishop The days fixed for this examination in the Academical Year 1857-8 are Wednesday September 30 January 20 and April 14 Section IV PERIOD of STUDY Persons already in Deacons' Orders desirous of preparing themselves as Candidates for Priests' Orders as well as Graduates of Oxford Cambridge and Durham are admitted to attend the Theological Course for such length of time as they may desire II In the case of all others the Course is continued at the very least during six entire terms two years Section general RULES It is expected that all Students will attend the Chapel Service morning and evening daily II Certain books and subjects named by the Professors must be read during the vacations III No Student may absent himself from any lecture without the express permission of the Principal being first obtained except in cases of illness and then written notice must be sent to the Principal
