ANNUAL REPORT APRIL 1857 51 given up all right to receive any dividend on the amount they have contributed towards the foundation of the College viz Lucas Dr Headland Esq Sotherby Esq Cunningham Esq If this plan be extensively followed by other Shareholders the ultimate benefits to the College may be very considerable The number of Shares already converted into donations has been 155 The decease of His Grace the Duke of Rutland having occa- sioned vacancy amongst the Governors for Life the same has been filled up by the Visitor with the Right Hon Lord Calthorpe This appointment creates vacancy in the list of elected members of the Council which it is proposed to ask the Court to-day to supply by choosing the Right Hon and Right Rev Bishop Blomfield In bringing the retrospect of the year to close the Council desire once more to renew their devout thankfulness for the success of past years and their undiminished confidence in the future stability and progress of the College referring all that has been hitherto done and all that remains to do to the Great Head of the Church-the Fountain of all wisdom and strength-in whose name the College was originally founded Rnd to whose glory all its energies are dedicated in the great work of providing general and comprehensive system of Christian Education for all classes פ
