MEDICAL DEPARTMENT ticulars of the case during life opposite the description of the post-mortem and to be responsible for all instruments and apparatus entrusted to his care To attend in the Out- Patient department at one o'clock daily to occupy separate desk and see such patients as are allotted to him by the Surgeon in attendance to take charge of the instruments in the Out-Patient department and to superintend the dressing and instruct the Out-Patient dressers in their duties Also to see that the Surgery is kept in good order Candidates for this office must have been Dressers to the In or Out-Patients Such Assistant House Surgeons as shall have performed their duties to the satisfaction of the Committee of Management and the Council during six months shall if otherwise eligible be considered as having ceteris paribus claim to be elected to the office of House Surgeon in preference to all Students except those who have served the office of In-Patient Dresser prior to the Winter Session of 1856-57 Operations -The area of the theatre shall be reserved for the medical officers including those resident the in-patient dressers and such visitors as are specially introduced by the operating Surgeon The first row of the theatre shall be re- served for the remaining dressers and the clinical clerks Post-mortem Examinations -The inspection of medical case shall be conducted by the Assistant House Physician and of surgical case by the Assistant House Surgeon in the presence and under the direction of the Physician or Surgeon under whom the case shall have been admitted The Assistant Physician together with the In-Patient Clinical Clerks of the Physician or the House Surgeon together with the Dressers of the Surgeon whose case may be under inspection shall alone be in the area of the theatre during the examination Midwifery -Pupils who have previously attended Course of Lectures are provided with large number of cases of Mid- vifery The patients are attended at their own houses in the neighbourhood of the Hospital under the superintendence of the Physician Accoucheur and Physician's Assistant
