medical department 165 The subjects for examination for the Scholarships to be given in October 1858 will be as follows Divinity -The Book of Genesis The Gospel according to St John in Greek The Church Catechism with Scripture proofs The Greek and Latin Classics Homer Od Book Terence Andria English Language and History -The Spectator The Reign of Queen Elizabeth Mathematics -Arithmetic Algebra as far as Quadratic Equations Euclid Book Book II except Props 10 Book III The Modern Languages -French Histoire des Protestans de France par De Felice German Grosz-Hoffinger's Erzherzog Karl von Oesterreich Class II For the Encouragement of Resident Medical Students One Scholarship is awarded at the close of each Summer Session of the value of £25 per annum to be held for two years subject to the provisions hereafter stated This Scholarship is open to all Second Year Matriculated Students of the Medical Department being also perpetual Pupils of the Hospital who during At least Six Months of their First Academical Year and י have The whole of their Second Academical Year resided within the limits of the College and who shall pro- duce to the Principal the following certificates viz of good conduct from the Censor or from the Physician or Surgeon with whom they have been residing of regular attendance on the Sunday and Daily Chapel Service and on the Divinity Lectures and Examinations from the Chaplain and of satisfactory attention to the regular Medical studies from the Dean of the Department
