general literature and science SI Department who have completed three and not exceeded nine Terms The next Examination will take place on Thursday April 23 1857 in the following subjects The Book of the Prophet Jonah in Hebrew or German The Pastoral Epistles in Greek Blunt's History of the Reformation Paley's Evidences The Prophecy of Jeremiah in its relation to the contem- porary history The Life and Teaching of St Paul The names of all Candidates must be given in writing to the Secretary and the fees for the Easter Term paid before four o'clock on Wednesday April 15 1857 after which hour no name trill be received No Student can be elected to this Scholarship more than twice Senior Stfiolarsfitps Two in each year of £30 each enable for Three Tears These Scholarships are open to all Matriculated Students of this Department not being Associates either from this De- partment or that of the Applied Sciences who have completed three Terms and have not exceeded nine Terms either in this Department or in this Department and in that of the Applied Sciences taken together One Scholarship will be given for proficiency in Classics and the other for proficiency in Mathematics All Candidates for these Scholarships must have passed satisfactorily the terminal Examination held at the preceding Christmas in every one of the subjects presented for the regular work of this Department including French or German This rule will apply even in the case of Student exempted by the Principal from attendance on any one of the Lectures These two Scholarships are tenable together and may be held for three years if the Scholar shall remain Matriculated
