80 GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE The Book of the Prophet Joel in Hebrew The First Epistle to the Corinthians in Greek Blunt's Scriptural Coincidences Paley's Hora3 Paulina Pearson on the Creed Articles VIII -XII inclusive Robertson's Sketches of Church History during the first Six Centuries Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge The names of all Candidates must be given in person or by letter to the Principal before one o'clock on Monday May 19 1856 after which hour no name will be received No Student can be elected to this Scholarship more than twice Srnnor £rf 0larsfjtve Two in each year of £30 each tenable for Three Tears These Scholarships are open to all Matriculated Students of this Department not being Associates either from this De- partment or that of the Applied Sciences who have completed three Terms and have not exceeded nine Terms either in this Department or in this Department and in that of the Applied Sciences taken together One Scholarship will be given for proficiency in Classics and the other for proficiency in Mathematics All Candidates for these Scholarships must have passed satisfactorily the terminal Examination held at the preceding Christmas in every one of the subjects presented for the regular work of this Department including French or German according to standing This rule will apply even in the case of Student exempted by the Principal from attendance on any one of the Lectures These two Scholarships are tenable together and may be held for three years if the Scholar shall remain Matriculated Student or become an Associate of King's College or if he shall pursue his studies at the Universities of Oxford Cam- bridge or Durham -ו---- Candidates not being Students of tne Department of General Literature and Science are allowed tlie option of bringing up this subject in German instead of in Hebrew
