GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE 71 attend with perfect regularity the Lectures provided for them Leave of absence can be obtained from the Principal alone and in cases of sickness or other unavoidable cause of non-atten- dance at the College written notice is to be sent by the parent guardian or medical attendant to the Secretary Exemption from attendance on any particular subject of Lecture can be obtained only from the Principal An appli- cation must in every case be addressed to him by the Parent or Guardian of the Student upon form to be obtained in the Secretary's Office Except by the special permission of the Principal no one is admitted Student of this Department under sixteen years of age The regular Course of Instruction in this Department carries the Student through three Academical Years Each Year con- sists of Three Terms viz Michaelmas Term from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas Lent Term from the middle of January to the week before Easter Easter Term from Easter to the end of June There is special Examination every year at Easter for all Students of Four Five and Six Terms standing and there are also examinations for all Students at the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms At these Examinations the Students are classed according to their proficiency The Examination in June is followed by public Distribution of Prizes Student who is elected to any of the Scholar- ships of this Department is thereby disqualified from receiving Class Prize during the Academical Year in which he is elected in any subject which may be included in the ex- amination for such Scholarship but he will be placed in the Class-List according to the rank he attains in the Prize Examination detailed Report is sent at the end of each term to the parents or guardians of each Student both as to his progress and as to his general attention and good conduct during the Term In case of Student being absent from the College without permission from the Principal or without notice being sent to
