general literature and science 69 IV English Language Literature and Composition Modern History For Ike Course of Study in 1855-6 see page 76 The Lectures are given on Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday from to and embrace English Literature History and Composition The Lectures will be divided into General and Special Of these the former occupying the first hours from to will embrace that amount of work which is necessary for general education the latter will discuss more minutely and fully the subjects before touched upon Attendance on the General Lectures comprising two on Language and two on History in every week will be exacted from every Student without dis- tinction But in cases where the Parents or Friends of the Students are anxious to obtain some diminution of their work for them they may obtain permission for them to absent them- selves from one or other of the Special Lectures on application to and by leave of the Principal The hours of work will be so arranged that if the Junior Division attend the General Lectures on History on Mondays and Thursdays from to the Special Lectures will occupy from to on the same days and the Senior Division will attend the General and Special Lectures on the English Lau- guage during the same hours -VI French and German Lectures are given- In French on Monday and Thursday from to In German on Tuesday and Friday from 3ן to 4£ Special Instruction is also given from to 4f to those wishing for additional time at these subjects II Students of the First Yea those who have not kept three Terms are required to attend the Lectures of the Professor of French Students of the Second Year those who have kept three but not six Terms are required to attend the Lectures of the Professor of German
