annual report april 1855 49 they produce to the Principal or Head-Master the same Testimonials as are required in the case oi all other Students or Pupils and be subject in all respects to the same regulations and discipline II Tliat any person willing to contribute the sum of 500 but anxious to secure under all possible contingencies the privi- leges attaching to his gift may effect his object by transferring the power of granting free admissions to the Principal of the College for the time being with such limitations as to pre- ference for Founder's kin or for Students of any particular Department of the College as may in each case be agreed upon between the Council and the Donor In any such case as well as in the case of Corporate Bodies and Firms ten free nominations at intervals of three years one from the other will be allowed for each donation of 500 The Council invite the attention of the Governors to these resolutions in the belief that those who are anxious to see King's College in more prosperous condition as to its pecu- niary affairs will here find ready way of accomplishing their object The Council have in their former Reports stated that the readiest way in which the College could be benefited at this juncture would be by providing or by assisting to provide Endowments for those Scholarships and Prizes which are now paid for out of the ordinary funds Information has only just reached the Council that The ΛνοΓβΙηρίίιΙ Company of Fishmongers have established out of their resources twelve exhibitions of the value of 100 per annum open to Students in actual residence in either of the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge or Matriculated Students of King's College or University College London nominated by the Members of the Court in rotation No one can be admitted to enjoy these exhibitions who has an annual income exceeding 50 per annum nor can they be held for more than seven years from the time the Student is Matricu-
