204 civil service and commerce Finances Banking Shipping and Statistics the various rela- tions of Commerce such as Partnership and Agency the instruments of Commerce such as Bills of Exchange Bills of Lading Policy of Insurance &c the History of Commerce connecting the first discoveries of trade with the present development as well as the Productions Industries Com- merce Shipping Money "Weights and Measures of all Conn- tries The Text-book used is Levi's Manual of Mercantile Law of the United Kingdom Section IV regulations respecting students The days fixed for the admission of new Students in the Academical Year 1855-6 are Wednesday October Wed- nesday January 23 and Tuesday April but it is better to pay the Fees previously to these days The Students received into this Department are- Matriculated Students or those admitted to the regular and full prescribed course of study Each Candidate for Matriculation must produce testi- monial of good character from his last instructor and when admitted by the Principal must subscribe his name to declaration that he will conform to all the rules and regu- lations which may from time to time be prescribed for the good government of the College under the sanction and authority of the Council Matriculated Students are required to attend regularly the College Chapel and the Divinity Lectures by the Chaplain they must wear the Academical cap and gown within the pre- cincts of the College and they are expected to attend with perfect regularity the Lectures provided for them Leave of absence can be obtained from the Principal alone and in case of sickness or other unavoidable absence written notice is to be sent by the parent guardian or medical attendant to the Secretary
