MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 161 He shall require daily report from the Students in attend- ance and himself visit at least once all the women who have been recently confined He shall keep an accurate record of the cases in the book send for the Physician Accoucheur in all cases of difficulty and be held responsible for immediately reporting all cases of irregularity or neglect He shall also whenever time permits assist in making such post mortem examinations and keeping records of such cases of interest in the Department for the Diseases of Women and Children as the Physician Accoucheur may need If the Assistant to the Physician Accoucheur is by any cause prevented from attending to his duties he shall provide substitute approved by the Physician Accoucheur Out-Patient Dressers -There shall be twelve Out-Patient Dressers who shall serve three months under each surgeon Out-Patient Dressers shall be matriculated students who have attended diligently six months' surgical practice The examination of Out-Dressers shall be pass examination to consist of two divisions 1st viva voce principally in Anatomy 2d written principally Surgical in both cases having par- ticular reference to the nature of out-patient surgery No student failing in the first division shall be admitted to the second They shall all attend punctually on the days of the surgeon under whom they may be serving for the purpose of dressing patients in the surgery and registering the patients under the direction of the surgeon or assistant-surgeon in attendance The choice of Dressers is subject to the rules laid down in the case of Out-Patient Clerks If any Out-Patient Dresser is by any cause prevented from attending to his duties he shall provide substitute approved by the Surgeon under whom he is serving In-Patient Dressers -There shall be four In-Patient Dressers two for each Surgeon Candidates must have attended six months' In-Patient Surgical practice
