GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE not exceeded nine Terms The next Examination will take place on Thursday May 31 1855 in the following subjects The Book of the Prophet Jonah in Hebrew The Acts of the Apostles in Greek Blunt's History of the Reformation Trench's Synonyms of the Greek Testament Hooker's Eccl Pol Books and II The History of the Jews from 536 to 72 The names of all Candidates must be given in person or by letter to the Principal before one o'clock on Monday May 21 1855 after which hour no name will be received No Student can be elected to this Scholarship more than twice Mentor srrtjolarsfjtps Two in each year of Ā£30 each tenable for Three Tears- These Scholarships are open to all Matriculated Students of this Department not being Associates either from this De- partment or that of the Applied Sciences who have completed three Terms and have not exceeded nine Terms either in this Department or in this Department and in that of the Applied Sciences taken together One Scholarship will be given for proficiency in Classics an Examination in the first three Books of Euclid in Arith- metic and in Algebra as far as Simple Equations having first been satisfactorily passed The other Scholarship will be given for proficiency in Mathe- matics an Examination in one Greek and one Latin Author previously fixed upon having first been satisfactorily passed These two Scholarships are tenable together and may be held for three years if the Scholar shall remain Matriculated Student or become an Associate of King's College or if he shall pursue his studies at the Universities of Oxford Cam- bridge or Durham Candidates not being Students of the Department of General Literature and Science are allowed the option of bringing up this subject in German instead of in Hebrew
