APPLIED SCIENCES 107 Plan of Line of Railway or of an Estate from field motes to be furnished by the Lecturer on Surveying with he contents of the several fields therein II Certificates of Honour -These are granted only at the ijcnd of the third year and to those whose studies have been pursued with distinguished success This term of three years maybe reduced to two years in the case of those Students who have previously passed two years either in King's College School or in one of the schools in union and who had reached the head class in such School before leaving it The following are the necessary attainments for obtaining this Certificate In addition to the Certificates required and to the subjects for examination in Natural Philosophy Chemistry and Mathe- matics fixed for the Certificate of Approval an examination must be passed in the following Mathematical subjects Plane Trigonometry Chap VI Spherical Trigonometry Geometry of three Dimensions Differential Calculus Chaps Χ XI XII XIII XIV XV Integral Calculus And in addition to the Plans and Drawings before men- tioned- The Geometrical Constructions of Problems in Descrip- tivc Geometry Drawings of the plan sections and cross sections of line of Railway or Canal with calculations of the cuttings and embankments required Section KING'S COLLEGE ENGINEERING SOCIETY In 1847 Society was formed under this title with the sanction of the Principal and Professors for the purpose of taking in the various Engineering and Scientific Periodicals
