176 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT -in Botany -in Anatomy and Physiology -in the Principles and Practice of Medicine Midwifery and the Diseases of Women and Children The Examination of the Candidate for certificate of qualification to act as Assistant to an Apothecary in compounding and dispensing medicines will be as follows In translating Physicians5 Prescriptions and the Pharmacopoeia Londi- nensis In Pharmacy and Materia Medica By the 22d section of the Act of Parliament no rejected candidate for certificate to practise as an Apothecary can be re-examined until the expiration of six months from his former examination and no rejected candidate as an Assistant until the expiration of three months The Court meet in the Hall every Thursday where candidates are required to attend at quarter before four o'clock The following sums are paid for certificates -For London and within ten miles thereof ten guineas For all other parts of England and Wales six guineas Persons having paid the latter sum become entitled to practise in London and within ten miles thereof by paying four guineas in addition For an Assistant's certificate two guineas VI REGULATIONS OF THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY candidate for an Assistant-Surgeoncy in the Army is required to fill up blank form of certificate which may be obtained at the office by written application to the Director-General specifying by whom he is recommended his Christian and surname at full length the course of study he has pursued viz -the lectures the lecturers'names places where the lectures were delivered and the number of mouths during which he attended in accordance with the regulations together with any others in his possession If he possess any University degree he must also state its nature whether or Î’ diploma in Surgery and when and at what College or University it was obtained The number of mouths' attendance at hospital or infirmary must also be stated and if he have attended at hospitals for mental derangement and diseases of the eye or lying-in institution particulars of such attendance must also be furnished The candidates must be unmarried not beyond twenty-six years of age nor under twenty-one years must possess the Diploma in Surgery of recognised school and must produce the following Testimonials Ei hteeu months' Hospital Practice twenty-four mouths' Anatomy
