applied sciences 83 VIII Chemistry by Miller Esq Pro- fessor and Hardwich Esq Demonstrator IX Practical Chemistry by Bowman Esq Pro- fessor Geology by Ansted Esq Pro- fessor XI Mineralogy by Tennant Esq Professor XII Instruction in the Workshop by Timme Esq Superintendent Dean of the Department the Rev Hall Religious Instruction Lectures on some Book of the Holy Scriptures are delivered by the Chaplain every Wednesday and Saturday There are also weekly examinations every alternate week on the lectures and in Text-books chosen by the Principal Those for the Academical year 1852-53 are- Third Year's Students Butler's Analogy Part Second Nicholson on the Church Catechism First Nicholls'Help to Reading the Bible These Examination Papers are accurately looked over and system of marks indicating relative merit is established At the close of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms the Students are classed according to merit and after the latter prizes are adjudged to the best Student in each year respectively Student who has obtained Divinity Prize in any one year cannot again become candidate for these Prizes II Mathematics Students of the first year attend Mathematics every day at 10Ā£ In the Michaelmas Term those commencing Algebra and Euclid attend Mr Cock those more advanced attend Prof Hall in Higher Algebra and Trigonometry
