GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE 71 It is to be held for one year and to be tenable only during residence at King's College London or at some one of the Colleges of Oxford or Cambridge No Student can be elected to this Scholarship more than twice The Examination will take place at such period in the Lent or Easter Term as the Professor and Lecturer in English Literature and Science shall with the sanction of the Principal direct and will consist of papers of questions upon Modern History and English Literature at the discretion of the said Professor and Lecturer The next Examination for this Scholarship will take place on Saturday May 21st 1853 The names of all Candidates must be given to the Principal in person or by letter before one o'clock on Monday May 9th 1853 after which hour no name will be received The following will be the subjects of examination The political writings of Burke The period from 1500-1530 TOutitg Jbctjolarsiji'p One of Ā£30 in each year held for year This Scholarship is open to all Matriculated Students of King's College excepting those of the Theological Depart- ment who have completed three and not exceeded nine Terms The next Examination will take place on Thursday May 19th 1853 in the following subjects The Book of Jonah in Hebrew The History of the Old Testament from the Conquest of Canaan to the Return from the Babylonish captivity The Gospel accordiny to St Luke in Greek Students of the Medical Department of the Department of Applied Sciences and of the Military Department have the option of bringing up this subject in German instead of in Hebrew
