general literature and science 63 Students of the Second Year those who have kept three but not six Terms attend the Lectures of the Professor of German Students who have kept six Terms attend either French or German at the option of their Parents or Guardians III Exemption from attendance on French and German will be granted only by the Principal and in writing addressed to the Professor on whom the Student ought to attend upon application from his Parent or Guardian IV In case of any Student being desirous from any cause to attend cither French or German out of his regular year the privilege may be granted by the Principal but an extra fee of 11 Is per Term must in such cases be paid VII Extra Instruction Instruction is also given within the walls of the College in Hebrew Italian Spanish Chinese the Oriental Languages including Sanscrit Arabic Persian and Hindoostani Vocal Music Drawing Fencing but these are all independent of the regular prescribed course The Fees and the hours of attendance together with the names of the Professors will be found at page 66 Section II REGULATIONS RESPECTING STUDENTS The Students received into this Department are- Matriculated Students or those admitted to the regular and full prescribed course of study Each Candidate for Matriculation must produce testimonial of good character from his last instructor and when admitted by the Prin- cipal must subscribe his name to declaration that he will conform to all the rules and regulations which may from time to time be prescribed for the good government of the College under the sanction and authority of the Council Matricu- lated Students wear cap and gown and with the exception of the Daniell Scholarship which is open to all Students alone have the privilege of contending for Scholarships
