28 annual report 1852 Dr Brinton having resigned the office of Demonstrator of Anatomy Mr John Wood and Mr Henry Hyde Salter formerly Assistant Demonstrators have been promoted to the office of joint Demonstrators In the Military Department the progress of the Students continues highly satisfactory The Council have learned with much pleasure that those who have already passed out of the Department have been eminently successful in the examination at the Royal Military College at Sandhurst before entering the Army Experience has gradually pointed out the best method of suiting the instruction to the special wants of Military Students From the five Senior Departments of the College the Council now turn with equal satisfaction to the King's College School The able and indefatigable Head Master Dr Major reports very favourably of the conduct and dili- gence of the Pupils in both Divisions Division Î’ is in full operation and its success and popularity fully equal the most sanguine anticipations which were formed on its institution It is evidently calculated to meet the wants of very important class Many parents have been found to avail themselves of the opening thus afforded them and many well-qualified Pupils have already gone forth into active employment fully sensible of the great advantages which they have enjoyed In the meantime Division the representative of the original School continues to give proof of the efficiency of the training supplied therein by the high distinctions which the Pupils obtain elsewhere Out of large list supplied by Dr Major of such honours obtained in the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge the Council select the following Alfred Bailey has gained First Class in Classics Thomas Walker Scott and Charles Joseph Hughes have graduated as Wranglers at Cambridge and two others as Senior Optimes John Adams Cree has been elected Fellow of Magdalen College Oxford Maurice Davies has been elected Fellow
