21 ANNUAL REPORT 1852 Department of the College by one of their own body the Rev Dr Warneford This enlightened promoter of sound education has presented to the College the sum of 000 for the foundation of additional Medical Scholarships with two special objects in view The encouragement of the previous education of Medical Students II The encouragement of Resident Medical Students Under the first head Two Scholarships will be given at the commencement of each Winter Session of the value of 25 per annum each to be held for three years subject to the pro- visions hereafter stated They will be open to all Matriculated Students of the Medical Department who are also perpetual Pupils to the Hospital at the commencement of their first Winter Session The examination will be in the following subjects -1 Divinity The Latin and Greek Classics English History Mathematics The Modern Lan- guages an equal number of marks being assigned to each of the five subjects but want of sufficient knowledge in Divinity will absolutely disqualify from further examination Under the second head One Scholarship will be awarded at the close of each Summer Session of the value of 25 per annum to be held for two years subject to the provisions hereafter stated and as often as the Council shall have accumulated the sum of 50 by means of lapsed and forfeited Scholarships or of interest on the Warneford King's College Scholarship funds in their possession an additional Scholar- ship of 25 per annum for two years will be given after due notice These Scholarships will be open to all second year Matriculated Students of the Medical Department being also perpetual Pupils of the Hospital who during at least six months of their First Academical Year and the whole of their Second Academical Year shall have resided within the limits of the College and who shall produce to the Principal the following Certificates viz of Good Conduct from the Censor of Regular Attendance on the Sunday and daily Chapel Service and on the Divinity Lectures from the Chaplain and of satisfactory
