the school 195 in some popular scientific subject read by all the Classes during the Term This Prize will also include the best report on the Elementary Lectures given by the Professors of the College No boy can obtain this Prize twice in the same Academical Year prizes open to pupils of both divisions in mathematics Five Prizes each Term to the boys passing the best Exa- mination in the following subjects First Prize -Enclid VI -XL Differential Calculus Func- tions of one variable Statics Second Prize -Trigonometry Logarithms Euclid IV VI and deductions Third Prize -Quadratic Equations Problems Arithmetical Geometrical and Harmonical Progression Binomial Surds Fourth Prize -Algebra Simple Equations Involution Evo- lution Surds Fractions and First Rules Fifth Prize -Euclid III IV and deductions With the view of preventing any Pupil contending for lower Prize than is consistent with his standing in Mathe- matics the Examiner with the assistance of the Mathematical Master will decide for which Prize each Candidate is at liberty to contend The Prizemen are selected without reference to the Clas- sical Classes in which they are placed No boy can compete for the same Prize which he has gained before No boy who obtains Mathematical Scholarship in the Lent Term will be eligible for Prize in that Term No boy can compete for lower Prize if he has already com- peted for higher one in any previous Term The Examiner can withhold the Prize from any Division if no boy in that Division should exhibit satisfactory know- ledge of his subjects and such Prize may be awarded to any meritorious boy in another Division
