11s MEDICAL DEPARTMENT than 000 has been obtained and even this has been spent in giving effect to resolution passed by the Committee at an early period of the year viz that they would give 000 out of the proceeds of their Festival to be held on laying the Foundation Stone to the Committee of Management towards the current expenses of the Hospital provided the usual Festival for this object should not take place At later period it was determined to postpone the laying of the Foundation Stone until the present spring but the engage- ment to pay the 000 was still incumbent on the Committee The amount will be charged against the next Festival -The Future The Committee are happy to announce that the event which for so many years lias been earnestly expected and desired is now likely to be accom- pushed and that the present summer wih it is believed actually see the new Hospital rising from the ground The Earl of Ellesmere the noble President of the Institution has most kindly engaged to lay the Foundation Stone on Wednesday the 10th of Juue and the Committee most cordially invite all their friends to rally round them upon this occasion They have resolved that upon this occasion no Public Dinner shall be held nor any expense incurred beyond that which may be uecessary to give due effect to the ceremony itself For the purpose of raising the remainder of the necessary funds the old and highly-valued friend of King's College the llev Samuel Wilson Warne- ford LL has this day contributed the further munificent sum of Five Hundred Pounds to be available as soon as Nine other similar sums have been given Two of these additional sums are already promised The Committee have resolved also upon opening forthwith two lists lor Subscriptions to the Foundation Stone Fund viz Subscribers to the amount of £10 13 Subscribers to the amount of £5 and relying upon the kind exertions of their numerous friends and supporters they confidently hope to be able to procure one thousand names upon each of these lists From and after January 1852 the whole control of the unds entrusted to this Committee has under the provisious of the Act of Parliament been transferred to the Committee of Management From that date therefore the principal duty of this Committee is to raise funds In conclusion it is only due to the kind friends of this Charity to express the cordial thanks of the Committee for the munificence with which many
